Amid soaring energy costs and increasing environmental concerns, the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) industry will now have a smart way to provide green, safe, and energy efficient high-temperature heating with cooling.
EcoThermics is a pioneer in the natural refrigerant segment of the industry. Leveraging core competencies in high-pressure fluid dynamics and thermodynamics, the company has made innovative advances which solve industry recognized roadblocks to development of sustainable, high-efficiency heat pumps that utilize the natural refrigerant carbon dioxide (CO2), designated R744 by the industry.
Located in Peoria, Illinois, EcoThermics was formed in 2007 to commercialize a diverse and important portfolio of intellectual property developed by its predecessor company WhiteMoss, Inc. The U.S. Army partially funded early research projects that established feasibility of the company’s compressor technologies. The company is building upon this legacy through expansion of intellectual property and patents, and development of a better CO2 compressor with:
- high power density
- improved energy efficiency
- greater performance and durability
- environmental sustainability
- considerable application flexibility
The EcoThermics AT54M compressor is a critical, enabling component for OEM manufacturers to build sustainable and economical systems for commercial and industrial heating, cooling and refrigeration applications.
EcoThermics has assembled a management team with proven success in developing startup businesses and a diverse business and technical advisory board. Even more importantly, the world-class scientific and technical team includes distinguished faculty from the University of Illinois (Professor Emeritus) and Purdue University, with deep expertise in CO2 compressors and thermal sciences, in addition to experienced HVACR engineers from several OEM partner companies.
